Deana Barrows and Sins of the Fathers like this

Narrator: Through the course of history many things come and go. You have seen the rise and fall of empires. Yet through countless battles the group known as Legacy fought through them all and continued to be at the top of the industry. Tonight on Behind The Legacy we pull back the curtain to show you what really happens when the cameras are recording.
“Oh fuck you.” I bellowed into my phone. “Listen I don’t give a fuck what the deal is, right now if they want me to step foot in that door, the rest of Legacy needs to have an open invitation.” A few mumbles are heard from the other side of the conversation. “Fine then. I’ll walk away from this deal and it’s no skin off of my back.” I ended the conversation and set my phone down on the desk in front of me.
“So what was all of this about again? I’ve got Legacy in five different companies right now and I honestly have no clue what this one is about.” I asked while looking up at an interviewer sitting across from me. He’s decked out in some mark gear and a stupid backwards baseball cap.
“We are just here to ask you a few questions about…” The man couldn’t finish before I stopped him.
“Right this is all about Legacy. I’m glad you’re here and you saw that.” I thought for a moment before continuing. “What you saw right there was a company trying to duck out of a deal because they didn’t want to pay Noah his going rate.”
“Well was he going to be…” Once again the man is stopped.
“No he wasn’t going to wrestle there. I was but Legacy is a package deal. Where one goes, we all go. Anyways what’s this all about?” The interviewer flips through his notes and slides them across the table towards me.
“Ahh. So you want to know all the dirty details. How we came to be? Okay then, where do I begin?.....”
“There I was making my way to the Final Four of the Warriors of the Ring. I had just beaten Jason Cashe and only The Lost Soul stood before me and a date with destiny. Everyone knew that I was the front runner from the day my name was announced. Then the impossible happened.
I Lost.
Not in the finals mind you.
I didn’t even make it that far. I was devastated. Raven was spouting out how there was no way I could lose this thing. Noah was on the bandwagon, and Atara was firmly entrenched on my side as well. There I was finally breaking free of the chains of a place I once called home, and I failed. I walked away for a bit to collect my thoughts. Some saw it as me running from a loss, and to a point they were right. I didn’t want to show my face in the GCWA after such an awful failure. That’s when I got the call.”
“Hey man, I’ve got an idea. Let me know if you’re interested.” The voice of James Raven is heard in a dope ass voice over.
Hard cut to James sitting in front of a green screen.
“We came up with the idea that together, with our combined strength we could topple anyone. There would be no one standing in our way. No one took to the team aspect more than Shawn.”
Hard cut to Noah Jackson sitting in a similar room set up.
“Oi, dad brought the idea to me, and I’m not gonna lie…. I thought it was sick as fuck. Like Dad and Raven on the same side… that’s like a brinks truck backing up to any company that was lucky enough to get them both at the same time.”
The camera pans over to Jackson Hart who is sitting in the same room as Noah.
“The tricky part in all of this was not becoming like all those boy bands out there. They ascend to the top of the charts, and then one of them becomes the break out star. You know like how N*Sync has Justin Timberlake…. Legacy had…”
“Dad” “Raven” Noah and Jax respond at the same time.
Narrator: That’s the division that everyone always thought was going to be at the forefront of the group. What actually was the case was something entirely different.
“Yeah everyone in Legacy has an ego. We all have that drive to be the best.” I said with a smirk towards the camera. “It’s honestly what has kept us going for as long as we have been. We have survived by the next man up theory. When one falls, it’s the next man up.”
“That’s where we are right now. Raven had failed to keep the World title from Mack. Betsy failed to get it from him, and now it’s my turn.” I smile and shrug™ and the camera. “What do you want me to say? That I’m not going to go out there to win? Do you want me to say that I’m not going to destroy the Tag Team wrestler in Lux? Do you want me to over inflate his sense of self? Should I say, good job kiddo you made it to the big time? That’s not what I’m going to do. Of everyone in this match, he is honestly the only person I’ve known that has had to introduce himself more than once. That’s only because he’s so very forgettable. He couldn’t beat Legacy to get the tag team titles, what on god's green earth do you think he means to me? I just go to Raven and Jax and ask them one simple question…. What do I need to do to cleanse the GCWA of the Sins.”
Smash Cut to Raven on the green screen.
“Yeah he asked, but so did Betsy. Jax and I told them both the same thing.”
Star fade to Jax and Noah.
“We said out of everyone in the match don’t worry about him at all. The Sins should count themselves lucky they are here, and Lux needs to get off of his knees before the match starts, since that’s the only way he got put in this scenario.”
“Ha…. Blow job joke. Good one roomie.”
A gentle fade back to Shawn.
“Right. I knew all of that. I watched it all go down a hundred times. Lux is just another one of those wrestlers destined to be stuck in the tag team division. It’s a shame really. I thought that Deana was going to try something worthy of my time.” A quick sip from a water bottle and then I continue. “ But of course I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the other factor in this match. Outcast. The man that Father Time seemingly has forgotten. I wish that after all of my drug abuse that I’m still doing this when I’m months away from an AARP Card. I just know that he’s gonna have some hard candies in his pocket, and I can’t wait to beat the stuffing out of him like a goddamn piñata at a quinceanera.”
“There’s something to be said about a person who just doesn’t know when to quit. I can sit here and list off every reason why he shouldn’t be here, but it’s just not worth it. Like he has beaten Jax. A man who hadn’t competed in a singles match… in like ever. Am I supposed to be impressed that he beat someone that’s new to the industry? Someone who is just getting their feet wet? That’s what everyone forgets about Legacy… We build Legacies. To say that everyone has bumps at the beginning of their careers is false. Surly you’ve tasted defeat. You know what it’s like to go without. Well simply put, the World Title is your oasis, but you’re stuck in the middle of the Sarhara. Nothing around you. No one to help you. No one, watching your back.”
Narrator: It was at this moment the tension in the room shifted. Raven only said glowing things about his paramour. Jax and Noah seemed firmly behind Betsy’s decision to replace Raven. Just Shawn on the other hand, you could see a sense of trepidation. The way he quickly shook his foot. With every deep sigh his words just became… something else. I asked him one simple question. What do you think of Betsy? His response was one we were all expecting.
“Oh I love Betsy like a sister.” I take in a sharp breath. “Listen when I say that, I truly mean it. She’s family…. in that weird Fast and the Furious kind of way. We stick together, and fight for what we want. And what have we wanted? Legacy on top. And what has happened since Betsy has joined our ranks…” I stop for a second and collect my thoughts. “Since she’s joined our ranks, our star has never shone brighter. We have picked up accolade after accolade, in every company we go to…. except here. Only one of us has had a lasting impression here. Only one of us continues to fight week in and week out. I’ve kept Legacy in the forefront. I’ve kept us relevant and since she’s been with us she’s helped shoulder that load. I thank her daily for that.”
I pause yet again, and clasp my hands together. Laying my elbows on my knees as I lean forward.
“Betsy if you walk out of this match the winner, no one would be happier than I would. I would stand beside you one hundred percent. I wouldn’t bat an eye to elevate you once again. I would wholeheartedly support you ‘sister mine’, just as I’d expect the same in return from you. We both know that this isn’t personal. We both know that if one of us Wins, Legacy wins. I’ll swallow my pride if you win, please do the same WHEN I win.”
Narrator: With that we ended this session. Shawn got up and walked out. There is still a part two to this story but that’s for another time. This has been Behind The Legacy: All Roads Lead To One. See you next time.
“God that was miserable. Who set this up?” I stood on the other side of the doorway as James walked up.
“Come on man it couldn’t have been that bad.” With a smirk he smiled. “Plus Betsy set it up for you. She said something about being away from prying eyes will get you to see the truth.”
“What the hell kind of shit is that?” Flabbergasted I throw my arms to the side. “Whatever is she here?”
“Yeah she’s floating around somewhere downstairs, I think she’s talking to Atty.”
I nod to Raven and head down the flight of stairs, and just as Raven mentioned there they both were. Smiling and having a good time. Each of them dressed as if they were runway ready, probably because of all the cameras.
“Hey Bets….” Betsy looks up and waves me over to the two of them. When I get there I give Atara a quick kiss on the cheek. “So Betsy, you didn’t happen to bring that package did you?”
“I don’t have it on me, it is in Excellence if you need it right now.” Betsy smiled widely.
“No, I don’t need it now just before you jettison off to wherever you are heading next.”
“What package? I’ll run and get it off of Excellence.” Atara stood up and began heading towards the phone box.
“Yeah. It’s the Amazon package next to the spa room. You can’t miss it bestie.” Betsy said as she began digging into her purse. She pulls out a small sky blue box and hands it over to me. “Here you go brother mine. Just don’t mess this up. She’s special and I see how she makes you… well less miserable. I mean still miserable just significantly less so when she’s around.”
“Thanks Bets. I’ll keep that in mind and make sure to not fuck this up.” I toss the box in the air and catch it.
“Mr. Warstein…. they are ready for you again.”
“I hate you for this Betsy.” I slump my shoulders, as Betsy smirks and Atara comes back with the package. I grab it and head back towards the green screen room as the camera fades to black.
