The world has become a much darker place. When you go out into it, you sense the despair all around, from those who are going through such tough times. You also sense the fear that comes from the knowledge that there are evil clowns from outer space and other dimensions. You have to see that as terrifying if you're the slightest bit intelligent.
We see a dark alley. Clearly any light bulbs have been broken or burned out, making it truly dark. A man is walking down, his arm twitching back and forth as he looks at the knife in his hands. It appears to have been used recently. The man shows a dark grin as he continues on his path.
What can balance the scales against an evil like this? What can stand against the muggers, the thugs, the gangster bullies who will lie, cheat, and basically make no match fair? Well, sometimes it takes a hero to stand up against them.
The man suddenly stops, looking down at his leg, realizing that he's stepped inside a tied length of rope. Before he can jump out again, the pulley system is engaged, and the man flies upwards, screaming as he's hoisted above the street. A muscular figure can be seen, standing on the fire escape glaring at him.
But this hero won't be able to do things on the right side of the law. No, the law isn't on their side. So the hero will have to go outside the law for justice.
The man, whimpering at the pain from being held by his ankle, gasps out a question to the muscular man.
"Who... who are you???"
The man leans in towards him with a scowl and says two words.
I'M BARRY!
The man screams in terror as the rigging suddenly fails. He plummets out of sight, with Barry staring down at him. He then looks left and right, a little nervously, before grabbing his contraption off the fire escape and running away. The camera pans downwards, showing the man laying there, groaning, having landed inside a trash can. This, in movies, is a good thing, but in real life, who knows what he just landed on. Things black out.
The cut takes place, as we now find ourselves entering the secret lair of Barry. The hugely-muscled man hangs up his cape first, putting it on a hidden hanger displayed on the wall. It pulls the cape away, hiding it from sight, as Barry continues into the room.
The battle for goodness and sweet things has continued all throughout the departure of the GCWA. I have continued to hone my craft, knowing that I have a battle against a truly evil clown in the near future. This is someone who will take heroic acts to defeat, which is why I have been training as my favorite hero. A legend. Someone with no powers who nonetheless brings the fight to evildoers everywhere. I am, of course, talking about Black Widow. She's hot. But really I mean Batman, the man whose ultimate nemesis is the Joker.
Barry turns to a nearby mirror, flexing towards it with his huge muscles. He smiles at himself, nodding, before walking away. We see Double Barry in the mirror, nodding back, before disappearing.
It's going to take all my cunning to defeat the evil PennyLord, currently hidden under the guise of Lord Allton, who is also apparently an alias of Rob Culliford. That's a lot of identities, but I've been working on that myself. After all, I want to strike the same fear into those who stand against me. Sometimes it takes larger efforts to make this effective.
As Barry approaches another hook, he reaches behind him, struggling for a few moments before managing to reach the zipper and begin removing the suit he's wearing. The muscles come off with the suit, showing that it was actually all a disguise. Underneath, Barry is as thin and wiry as ever. He hangs the suit up on the special holder for it, keeping it upright.
Lord Allton, I mean Rob, has always had the numbers on me. He's used them against me again and again. It's going to take deception, sleight of hand, any sort of trickery I can pull out of my you-know-what in order to finally defeat him and end his threat. I'm all for never fighting the crazy man ever again, but sometimes I wonder if we're fated to fight for all eternity. Or maybe this is my chance to be free of him, the Family, all of them once and for all.
Barry walks to the side, having shed his outfit almost completely (no he's not naked, you sickos). He steps through a secret door, entering a small apartment and shutting the bookcase behind him. He turns, making sure that it's secure, then pulls out a folder that was sitting on the bookshelf. In it, he starts reviewing the pictures once again. Shots of Dylan Thomas, Lissandra, Lord Allton, Vincenzo, Tank, all of them. All seemingly taken without their knowledge. All likely from the paparazzi who are everywhere nowadays.
I plan to be ready for all your tricks, Rob. And you should know, while you've been enjoying trips around the world, I've been getting divorced. I've cleaned out my life so that there's only one thing left on my list: you. So you better be ready, whether you're wearing make-up or not, because you're facing a Barry with nothing else to lose... other than my title. And my life, I guess. Hopefully I won't lose that. Gulp. Anyway, prepare yourself, because tehre's no way in h-e-double hockey sticks you're pinning me.
As Barry begins to settle down to review more information, a red light suddenly comes on, along with an alert. He springs up, immediately heading back to the Barry cave to figure out what's happened, and what he can do to help stop it.
