GCWA can report an update in regards to Chelsea LeClair, who has not been seen or heard from since Fright or Flight aside from the occasional social media tweet.
Chelsea is said to have recovered from the post-match assault from the Legacy after the world championship match came to an end. She did suffer 'a few minor injuries' stemming from the match although this is mainly due to the assault that occurred. There currently isn't a timetable for when she will make her return to GCWA although she has said that she's "always been committed to GCWA 100%" and is looking forward to returning when the time is right. The consensus among sources is that Chelsea has wrestled her last match in GCWA for 2020 and could be coming back sometime in early 2021.
Chelsea has definitely experienced quite the evolution over the last seven months, starting with the Manifest Destiny tournament in OCW where the former 'biggest joke in OCW (as she once described herself) surprised many people by making the finals of that tournament. Her success in that tournament ultimately drew interest from GCWA and she has since proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that her Manifest Destiny success was no fluke whatsoever with winning the GCWA North American and World Championships (the only woman in GCWA history to win both championships). With the roller coaster that she's been on this year, it's been speculated that this 'hiatus' of sorts is just as much psychological as it is physical.
LeClair, however, was willing to offer a comment regarding the world title situation that centered around the Darkness Falls Pay-Per-View.
"It's a shame that the situation unfolded that way" she said in her comment. "It's never a good thing when someone is essentially awarded the title and it's never a good thing when a match that many were wanting to see gets cancelled at the last minute. But, everything always works itself out in the end and I know how committed I am to this company. When I come back, I'm going to show that commitment and that dedication. I wasn't even a finished product as a professional wrestler when I originally won the GCWA World Championship but this time away gives me the opportunity to become one... and watch the fuck out when I do. Let's just say Deana Barrows messed with the wrong bitch last month!"
Is this a potential clue for the future? Time will tell.
