*An old-fashioned news ticker plays, as the cameras slowly come on. We see Jones, the former GCWA announcer who has been working as a (poorly-treated) interviewer in OCW for the past few years, sitting at a badly-beaten desk and stacking a set of paper in front of him. He looks embarrassed to be there, but quite frankly, with his prospects, any employment at this point is worth taking. He clears his throat.*
Jones: Hello everyone, and welcome to your first online GCWA News Break! We've got a lot to cover, so let's get to it.
*Jones waits as an intern steps up, turning the sheet of paper nearby to reveal the first 'story' headline. Jones shakes his head.*
Jones: Sorry, people. We're working on getting a budget for this. I swear. For now, you'll just to have to deal with Mikey filming this on the camera on his phone. I think it's an iPhone 5?
*The camera shifts, and we see Mikey giving a wave to the camera, before turning and refocusing it on Jones. He sighs.*
Jones: And I thought OCW was bad...
*Mikey clears his throat, reminding Jones that they're not just recording, they're live on Facebook. Jones straightens up and clears his throat once again.*
Jones: But I love my job. So let's talk the Global Championship Wrestling Association! Things are already moving at a brisk pace as several high-profile wrestlers are said to have signed with the company. Let's run through some names, shall we?
*The intern turns the page again, showing a few pictures have been stuck on the paper.*
Jones: The Lost Soul was the first to sign on the dotted line over the weekend. He's one of the most enigmatic wrestlers who has ever appeared in the GCWA, having gone under many names, including El Phantasmo and The Stranger. He's also heavily decorated, being a former 2-time GCWA Intercontinental Champion, a GCWA X Division Champion, and holding the GCWA World Tag-Team Championships with Harvey Danger. This is a man who has been extremely successful in the GCWA in the past, but he's still seeking that final career-maker of the GCWA World Heavyweight Title. Will this be his chance in 2019?
*As Jones points at the picture, it falls off the page to the floor. Being a professional, Jones lowers his head and sighs again before continuing on.*
Jones: The first tag-team to make their way into the GCWA are Alec Kirkland & Kenneth Marshall, collectively known as Technical Authority. Once bitter rivals, these two trainees of Gus Arnold have apparently put aside their differences in order to form an extremely powerful tag-team. They were just starting to make a name for themselves in Online Championship Wrestling when the company closed its doors, leading the team to instead sign with the GCWA. There are still some concerns about the condition of Alex Kirkland, who had been in a career spiral as recently as last year. But by all accounts, this team has the skills to take over the entire tag-team division.
*The intern flips the page over, showing the next set of photos.*
Jones: "The Rocket Man" Ed Houston shouldn't need any introduction, after his long and successful career in OCW. The former OCW Paradigm Champion, OCW Lightweight Champion, and 2-time OCW Craze Champion is clearly in his prime. Many had Houston pegged for even greater things in OCW in the very near future, but with the closing of the company, Houston is now seeking his fortunes elsewhere. The question is, can Houston remain focused on winning GCWA championships? Or will he once again become embroiled in various lawsuits to protect his Rocket Man brand?
*The intern walks across behind Jones, flying a paper-made 'rocket' and making whooshing sounds. Jones glares at him and tells him to stop it, before turning back to the camera.*
Jones: Next we have "Perfection Personified" Dylan Thomas, who is coming to the GCWA along with his wife, Lissandra. Dylan has had a strong career in the independents, and is now set to make his presence known in the GCWA after a five-year absence from the ring. Some will point out the wrestler's arrogance at proclaiming himself as "perfection". Others see it as extreme confidence that Dylan will clearly back up in the ring. With Lissandra backing him, many feel that the sky's the limit for this wrestler, as he looks to add his name to the history of our glorious company.
*The paper is turned once again, showing a different set of pictures.*
Jones: While there has been no official word on The Big Bifford or Lurrr, the two GCWA Hall of Famers have been exchanging words over Twitter, wanting to fight on the first show back for the GCWA on Friday, August 30th. There has definitely been a lot of excitement from the fans, who want to see this classic match-up take place. After all, both men are former GCWA World Heavyweight Champions, so they would clearly be seen as the front-runners to be listed as #1 contenders for the championship. We're hoping for an official announcement in the next couple of days as to whether both have worked out deals with the company, but at this point, it seems likely that they will be in the main event of Friday Night Inferno.
*Bifford's picture comes unglued at one corner, which actually works, as it makes it look like Bifford is menacingly glaring at Lurrr's picture. Jones can't stop a giggle, before once again refocusing himself.*
Jones: Rumors abound about other talent that may be signing with the company, including Sarah Twilight, Lilith, Logan, Duce Jones & Krayzie. We expect that a lot of negotiating is going on right now, as the GCWA tries to sign so much strong talent on the market, while having only limited funds. The Accelerator and his family are said to be contacting a lot of old sources in order to raise revenue for the planned Friday event, currently scheduled for the Midland County Horseshoe Arena & Pavilion in Midland, TX. Tickets are already on sale, and said to be doing a brisk business considering little is known about the event. Who will be competing and be first in line to gain a championship? Which belts are returning? Will any more former GCWA competitors make their presence known? Stay tuned to this YouTube channel for more details! This is Jones, signing off.
*Jones stacks the papers once again in front of him, as the news ticker sound is once again played. He puts the papers to the side, then pretends to talk to the intern, although it's clear he's not really saying anything. The intern throws in a fake laugh, anyway. Jones laughs back, and then reaches up and takes off his clip-on tie, shaking his head. He starts to stand up, and then realizes that the phone is still pointed his direction.*
Jones: Ummm... Mikey? You can stop recording now.
*The camera shakes for a moment, as if Mikey is just coming out of a daze. He appears for a second, his finger reaching towards the screen, and the video ends.*
