I had my chance. I had the best shot of my career to hoist a world championship above my head and TIO took it all away from me. I got some revenge last week, but it’s not enough. It might never be enough. To rip someone's dreams away is perhaps the worst thing you can do to them. It’s different from seeing someone fail to reach it on their own. When I got dismissed from NASA, it hurt deep down but it was my mistake. I could take ownership of it. TIO can go on and on about how I had my chance, how there was some ownership involved but that’s what happens when you deal with someone who can’t take responsibility for your own actions. Classic narcissist TIO. I have to cast that aside this week. I can’t let The Ignorant One live rent-free inside my head or else one heartbreaking loss could turn into a losing streak. Once you get close to a black hole, it will suck you in and destroy you if you let it. I won’t let TIO destroy me.
The scene opens up outside the GCWA arena in Dallas, Texas. The camera focuses on it for a minute before turning to the ground where Ed Houston and Bob Black stand.
Bob: “What do you think of it?”
Houston: “I don’t know what TIO was talking about. This arena is awesome! I mean coming from OCW you have to expect a lot and GCWA delivered. It even still has an old time feel to it. The history is still alive in the walls. But I’m not surprised TIO couldn’t see through it. He can’t see through much even when it’s staring him in the face.”
Bob: “Are you okay?”
Houston: “Bitter still but I’ll be all right.”
Bob: “It’ll be okay, man. You’ll have plenty of chances.”
Houston: “It just hurts to have come so close and not even have a say in how it goes. Maybe I could have pinned Mobley or maybe even Bifford I almost suplexed him.”
Bob rolls his eyes. “Yeah, almost.”
Houston: “I’m still glad I did it my way.”
Bob: “Even if it cost yourself a championship?”
Houston nods. “Yeah. TIO has to live with having that over his head and I just couldn’t do it. I don’t want to be owned by anyone. I couldn’t even do it for a job. I need to be my own person.”
Bob nods. “God that’s the truth. Well good. I thought today we could see one of the most important sites in Dallas.”
Houston nods. “I’m cool with that.”
Bob smiles. “Okay cool. Follow me.”
The camera skies above Bob and Ed as they walk down the street. It settles at the ground level and zooms in on the street name. It shows that Ed and Bob have made it to Dealey Plaza.
Houston: “Where are we?”
Bob looks surprised: “You don’t know?”
Houston shrugs: “No?”
Bob: “This is Daeley Plaza, where JFK got shot.”
It is Ed’s turn to look surprised: “I’m surprised you knew that.”
Bob: “And I’m surprised that you didn’t.”
Houston shrugs: “History was never my strong suit.”
Bob: “But JFK is the reason NASA was a thing. He’s the reason we ever got to the moon.”
Houston: “Of course I know that. Why are we here?”
Bob: “JFK thought he had it all figured out and then he got shot out of nowhere. You can’t hold on to that loss Ed. I know it sucks but you never know when it could end.”
Houston nods: “Sometimes you actually can speak some sense.”
Bob: “I try.”
Houston: “I need to hold this inside for a little while or I won’t have the edge I mean but I get what you mean Bob. Thanks. It helps a little.”
Bob: “No problem!”
Houston: “Now let’s go to a gym.”
The camera follows them as they turn and walk to the plaza before the scene fades to black.
This week I have to face off against Peter Vaughn. While this guy might just be a janitor, he has racked up two wins in a row. Sure I might have helped him with one but the record books will show Peter with a win over TIO. You’re welcome for that TIO! Peter took out The Lost Soul before that. He didn’t even have as good of a run in Outsider’s Championship Wrestling. This guy is on a role. If he keeps this up, he could get a shot at Bifford! So he has a lot on the line. He might not be the most confident guy in the world but I will be on my A game. I will not let him add me to his list of surprising upsets. So take those vitamins, Peter. Maybe even slip a few steroids into your system. Do some bench presses with a mop and buckets attached to it. It will not matter. It is weird that a perpetual underdog will take out an underdog, but that is what is going to happen.
Beating Peter won’t take away the sting of Homecoming but it will lessen the blow a little. Hopefully, I will be able to get my hands on Dylan Thomas and TIO soon. That is what I need to set myself free. For this week, I will have to make do with flying high again and kicking Peter in the face. You would have had a better time just eating pizza, Peter. It wouldn’t have changed anything in our match. It doesn’t matter what’s in that paper bag. It could be another Peter Vaughn and it wouldn’t matter. It could be five Peter Vaughns and it wouldn’t matter. I will beat you so badly that you won’t even want to step into the ring with the Uber Man again. Your winning streak was a nice little story, but it is done. I will try not to cause a big mess in the ring. It is kind of cruel to both beat you and make you clean up your own blood but at the end of the day I will wipe the floor with you. The future of GCWA is ready to put to rest the past and start my ascent to the top again. Unfortunately, the lowest man in the company stands in my way. I’m ready to light the inferno under myself and fly high. The countdown begins again on Friday.
