Dallas P.D. and paramedics were called in after a fan attempted to ambush a wrestler, armed with a knife and proclaiming wrestling is fake.
Unfortunate for him, it turns out the sport and one of its competitors proved him dead wrong.
26 year old Taylor Colter was placed in medical custody following the Oct. 25th edition of Global Championship Wrestling post match meet and greet. Highly intoxicated and having a criminal record for multiple arrests for trespassing and aggravated assault, Colter, armed with a 8" Bowie hunting knife, slipped past security and charged at one of the organization's newest employees. The suspect was quoted as saying "Wrestling is *expletive deleted*! I'll show you what a real fight is like!"
He could not have picked any more wrong of a target to prove his point.
His intended victim was 30 year old Anthony Kennedy Savage, aka "Tony", a multiple time champion professional wrestler, decorated veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, and professional private contract soldier. Tony was accosted by the assailant, who quickly discovered he was no match hand to hand with one of the organization's newest free agent acquisitions celebrating his first night with a win.
"It was bad, real bad." One fan, who asked to remain anonymous, described. "You could hear bones pop even over people yelling."
KXAS obtained footage from the incident from a fan's mobile device. Most of the footage is too graphic for home viewers, but a snippet has been leaked onto the Internet...
After several hours of investigation, police determined that Mr. Savage was justified in his actions, due to the extreme level of violence the suspect was capable of.
Mr. Colter is current in serious but stable condition after suffering a compound fracture to his lower forearm and elbow, a dislocated hip, and a cracked sternum. He is under police supervision at Baylor University Hospital undergoing treatment.
Mr. Savage was unavailable at this time for comment, but a spokesperson for GCWA released a statement...
"Global Championship Wrestling is committed to the safety of fans and our athletes, and actions like this from spectators will NOT be tolerated. We frequently warn our fanbase not to attempt to conduct themselves in a reckless and unsafe manner at our shows. Remember; we employ some of the best and brightest in combat sports to bring the best quality show possible. These are highly trained and potential dangerous people. Please, do not endanger yourselves, fellow fans, or our wrestlers. It may result in disastrous consequences."
