The last time we saw Dylan Thomas, he was smacking around Dangerous Dan and Crazy Chris with the assistance of The Incredible One. Lissandra had said that in the lead up to High Rollers, she had scheduled Dylan in for an interview with Ellen Degeneres and they both could not wait. Both Dylan and Lissandra are huge fans of Ellen Degeneres. We join the Thomas’s as they drive to the Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California.
It’s 5:00 in the afternoon and since it’s only about a twenty minute drive from Hollywood to Burbank, the couple are in no haste to get there. Sitting in the back seat of their blacked out sedan, the two are once again dressed to the nines with Dylan in a black suit and burgundy waistcoat and Lissandra in a beautiful white dress. Dylan looks over at his wife, clinking his champagne glass -which right now merely contains tonic water – against hers and smiles.
Dylan: Baby, as ever you look gorgeous. Are you OK after last week, though?
Lissandra: Thank-you baby. What do you mean, honey?
Dylan: I mean after Crazy Chris almost hit you in the stomach. He had no business doing that – and at High Rollers, I’m going to make him see the error of his ways and kick his ass all over Vegas! You can bank on that, sweetheart. Dylan Jr. isn’t hurt is he?
Lissandra can’t help but smirk at her loving husband. She grabs his hand reassuringly.
Lissandra: Baby… first of all… we are NOT calling the baby Dylan Jr.
This time, it is Dylan’s turn to smirk.
Dylan: OK...OK… “DJ” it is.
Lissandra bursts out laughing and shakes her head.
Lissandra: Absolutely not! But yes baby, I’m fine… and she’s fine.
Dylan: ‘She’, huh?
Lissandra: Oh, yeah. She is totally a girl.
Dylan and Lissandra move closer to one another and kiss. After a few minutes of driving, the Thomas’s end up at the Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California. The guard at the gates to the studios stops the car and George gives over the information required for access to the studios. He can’t help but knock on the window, smiling and Dylan lowers the blacked out window smiling broadly, complete with shades on.
Dylan: Hello my good man!
Guard: M-Mr. Thomas! I-I’m a fan of yours. Hey, do you really know Woody Harrelson? Or was that, you know… camera trickery last week?
Dylan looks at the guard with a dead pan face, not entirely sure what to say.
Dylan: You er… you saw the show last week, right…? He was with us.
Guard: Right.
The guard winks at Dylan.
Guard: Sure he was.
This man really confuses Dylan. Dylan shakes his head and quickly changes the subject.
Dylan: So, uh...can George park over there, dude or…?
Guard: Huh? Oh. Oh! Yeah of course! Just over there, Mr. Thomas.
The guard points to a space and George follows the instructions and Dylan nods and smiles. Inside the studios, the Thomas’s are met by a stage hand.
Stagehand: Hello Mr. and Mrs. Thomas. This way, please. Miss Degeneres is almost ready for you. But for now… follow me to the Green Room.
The stagehand leads the couple to the Green Room, and inside the room, the Thomas’s take a seat.
Stagehand: Ten minutes, guys.
Lissandra: Thanks a lot.
Dylan stands up after a little while, grabs a bottle of water from the nearby mini-fridge and hastily gulps some water down. Dylan offers some water to Lissandra but she shakes her head smiling.
Lissandra: Now… when we go out there tonight, just keep plugging the DT Brand and of course GCWA High Rollers. Because when you beat Chris at the Pay-Per-View, we want as many people as possible to see your victory.
Dylan smiles at Lissandra and leans down to her, kissing her forehead. Ten minutes go by and the Thomas’s get a knock on the door.
Stagehand: Time, Mr. Thomas!
Dylan: Cheers, man!
Dylan and Lissandra hear the show music and as they make their way towards the stage, ready to go on, they can hear Ellen Degeneres welcoming people back to the show.
Ellen: Hi, yeah welcome back to the show. Y’know… my Grandmother began walking five miles a day when she was sixty. Trouble is, she’s ninety seven now and we have absolutely no idea where she is!
Dylan pokes his head briefly around the curtain and he sees Ellen Degeneres smiling broadly at her own joke. The Thomas’s themselves cannot help but smile either.
Ellen: OK… my next guest has been on a tear in the wrestling world and his wife has been on a tear in the business world for years. Ladies and Gentlemen… I give you, with his gorgeous wife Lissandra, from the GCWA… ‘Perfection Personified’ Dylan. Thomas!
Dylan and Lissandra step out onto the stage with ‘Watch Me Shine’ by Fozzy playing in the background. Ellen is applauding and the studio audience are cheering but there are a few pockets of the audience who are booing out of instinct. Dylan and Lissandra wave at the audience and cameras and walk over to Ellen Degeneres and give her a hug in the process. The music dies down and the three of them sit down on the studio chairs.
Ellen: Guys, it’s awesome that you’re here tonight.
Dylan & Lissandra: Yeah, thank-you.
Ellen: First of all, Lissandra… how are you feeling right now? I can see that you’re… well…
Lissandra: Yeah, thanks Ellen. Everything is going just great, right now.
Lissandra instinctively puts a hand over her stomach smiling, causing the audience to cheer.
Ellen: Dylan… I trust you’re looking after her?
Dylan smiles at the studio audience, putting his arm around his wife.
Dylan: Of course, Ellen.
Ellen smiles.
Ellen: So… Dylan, you’ve been in the GCWA for quite some time right? A couple of months now, is that right?
Dylan smiles and nods his head.
Dylan: Since August 30.
Ellen: So how is it going in GCWA at the moment?
Dylan: I’m a former North American Champion.
The studio audience cheer and the Thomas’s can’t help but smile.
Lissandra: He won in his debut as well against a guy called ‘Xtreme’.
Ellen: Extreme? With an E, I assume?
Lissandra: No. Beginning with an X.
Lissandra can’t help but let out a small laugh.
Lissandra: It was so weird but Dylan did break his ankle.
Ellen: That’s a bit extreme -pardon the pun, there – isn’t it?
Dylan: Not exactly. The GCWA can be a brutal place to be but I’ve got the place handled.
Ellen: So when did you first get into wrestling itself, Dylan?
Dylan: I actually began training at fifteen years of age and I had my debut in 2007 in actually a very well known wrestling federation, but I’d rather not talk about that one. They didn’t think that I have the potential I clearly do.
Ellen: So that means you’ve been a pro for… twelve years, is that right?
Dylan: Twelve, yeah. And a former World Champion already.
Ellen: In GCWA?
Dylan smiles and briefly looks down at the floor.
Dylan: Not yet, but there’s time.
Ellen: You went off on hiatus for a while, right? Before returning to the wrestling world?
Dylan: Yeah, we went away for about six years. Lissie wanted to concentrate on building the DT Brand into a worldwide phenomenon. Building us contacts etcetera and in that time I’ve actually been wondering whether to go into Hollywood movies – after all, I do my own stunts.
The studio audience can’t help but utter a laugh at this comment and even Ellen herself has to smile broadly. She then looks over at Lissandra.
Ellen: Y’know girl. Your husband may not be my personal type but I can see why you married him. Dylan is hilarious.
Lissandra smiles rubbing her husband’s hand and looks at Ellen.
Lissandra: At times.
The audience let out a collective ‘aww’ and Lissandra can’t help but smile again.
Lissandra: I’m joking, I’m joking!
Ellen: So the show coming up next is High Rollers, isn’t that right?
Lissandra: You’ve done your homework, girl!
Ellen: I try. What’s the match you’re in for this show?
Dylan: X-Division title match. Against a guy called Crazy Chris. He’s a legend of the business.
The audience can’t help but cheer at the name drop of Chris as they know exactly who he is.
Dylan: BUT…! I’m going to beat him at High Rollers and become the new X-Division Champion!
A guy in the crowd cannot help but heckle Dylan.
‘Yeah, but how long are you gonna hold it for?!’
Dylan can’t help but smile at this and he points to the guy in the crowd and shouts back.
Dylan: A hell of a lot longer than when I was North American Champion, I’ll tell you that!
This causes everyone to erupt with laughter and Ellen looks towards the camera.
Ellen: Right… Dylan… after the break, we’re going to see whether you have any words for Crazy Chris. But for now… we’ve got to go for a break – we’ll be right back!
The studio audience applaud and the show’s theme tune kicks in as we head for a break.
