Kill The Icon... Create The Martyr?
“Icon. A sign whose form directly reflects the thing it signifies.”
“What is an Icon? With no specific definition all characteristics inevitably point to me. IPW Heavyweight Champion for over seventy days and counting and there appears to be no real threat to my reign. I took over the game with my eyes closed and because I did it so effortlessly, IPW Higher Ups…. and members of their little corporate chosen superstars of tomorrow collection have vowed to weaponize themselves against me. Their weapon of mass destruction and misperception of the use of their “Power” is going to blow up in their face.”
“The backfire will only be the beginning. Iconic Pro Wrestling gets its’ ratings based off of me and me alone. Brady Vega baby. Whether their speaking ill about ya boy or whether their praising me, I’m the talk of the town. I’m the talk of Santa Monica and I’m the reason wrestling is still valid in the state of California.”
“You can find a million versions of Britney Anders around this State and a million and five versions of Mike Mason. Those are not Icons. What is an Icon?”
“An Icon is unique. An Icon is a representative symbol or someone worthy of veneration. Where does the self-proclaimed marvelous one fit into this area of the playing field? He doesn’t. He’s a square peg looking to fit into a circle three sizes too small.”
“The rude awakening that awaits him will crush his spirit the same way my victory at Anniversary Armageddon crushed the spirits of IPW Management. They didn’t want me here because they knew that with the arrival of Brady Vega would come the arrival of a martyr. They know with the arrival of the Gate Keeper would come the arrival of a true Icon. Multi-faceted. Multi-talented. Informed.”
“The greatest acquisition to ever sign on the IPW roster and I still find myself having to prove my worth to naysayers and those who choose not to believe.”

A younger Brady Vega with long dreadlocks and an innocence in his facial expressions that matched his age range wheels his chair across the tile floors of the small in home office. The headsets lathed around his head have a microphone that is placed just in front of his mouth. Vega stops in front of a desk with a big Apple monitor placed on it.
“Hold on! I’m trying. BronxNightmare, make the adjustment on the fifth floor. Rex is in the stairwell.” Brady demands. On the monitor at the desk behind him we see multiple boxes of black and white footage. Surveillance cameras of a building of some kind, Rex Cassidy is seen leaving a stairwell and entering a large facility.
“He’s inside. CopperMuff where are you?”
COPPER MUFF: “I’m here. The main office is fine. Guards ran outside. I was able to trip the motion detector alarm outside.”
“Oy, bruv..” Rex Cassidy’s voice chimes into the headsets. “I’m inside. Why is a wrestling facility so secure? Reminds me of Sandhurst.”
“Just accomplish your mission. They can’t stop us from being great, this is for the Culture! On my momma!” Brady shouts into the microphone and slumps back into his chair when there is a knock at the door. “Oh shit.” Brady whispers into the headset microphone. “I’m going dark. Be sure to grab billing statement. They won’t get away with kicking me out.”
“Bruv!” Rex is cut off before he can finish and Brady mashes the mute volume button on his keyboard. The turn of the door knob is head by Brady and he turns off the monitors just in time as the doors open. Security Guards step into the office and “Dr. Death” Rory McCallister, an old Irish Boxer from the 60’s turned Pro Wrestler in the 70’s and low budget megastar in the 80’s enters behind the guards.
DR. DEATH: “What are you up to Brady?”
“Nothing sir.” Brady remains calm but is losing all composer within. He gulps hard. “I was just on my way out. I was sleep walking.”
DR. DEATH: “Sleep walking?”
Brady’s eyes dart around the office. Dr. Death memorabilia and pictures hang all over the office. “Yes.” Brady sticks to his lie.
DR. DEATH: “Was it you that trickered the alarm?”
“I’m not sure. When did an alarm go off?”
DR. DEATH: “Training classes are not scheduled until the morning. What are you doing in my office?”
“I’m getting my proper medical records filed away properly. I know you switched them so I could no longer compete.” Brady says with an intent.
DR. DEATH: “This is MY establishment, and we are playing under my rules. You are no longer the champion, you must now move onto greener pastures.”
“The ‘fuck does that even mean?! You not even trying to help me get in front of other promotions. I’ve been doing my own scouting and looking for my own promotions. You couldn’t even make a phone call to Huntington Beach! I’m the hardest worker you’ve got.”
DR. DEATH: “That may be the case, but you’re not the only worker I’ve got. Pack up your things, you’re no longer allowed to appear on the premises anymore.”
Brady glares at Dr. Death and his security guards. Another group of Security Guards arrives with Rex Cassidy in their custody.

“It will forever be the hater, that does not believe. The modern age Judas, infamously known as the hater in many cultures and areas of society, that is exactly the label Mike Mason has worn. He’s also been dubbed the steroid king, but we all know we works very hard on his physique… his looks. These are the things that matter most to him and as that live by the sword die by the sword mentality that drives him is going to be exactly what stop his momentum.”
“He believes that he is the baddest man on the planet and that no one can stop him. It is the hubris that makes him weak and it is the hubris that I will pray upon. Mike Mason is being served up on a platter and brought to a level he is unfamiliar with. He is entering the realm of the student when he has been a teacher for far too long. Where he comes from, he has been the “best” or better of the bunch but around IPW you must be a true Icon or you will not survive.”
“Mike Mason believes he is a diamond surrounded by trash, and as usual, it’s up to me to inform him that he’s just a piece of trash in the daytime. Mike Mason truly believes he is better than me and out of pure jealousy and an attempt to alter the perception I have of myself everyone else joins the bandwagon of lies.”
“They have said Brady Vega can’t hack it. They have said Brady Vega stands no chance. Brady Vega doesn’t deserve to hold the IPW Heavyweight Championship. They’ve got one thousand reasons why I’m not the right fit as champion and I’ve already proven every reason why I’m the only person who should be named a Champion in IPW.”
“The Sons of Gold packed their bags and with good reason. They don’t even get recognition on the Champions Row. This match against Mike Mason is about much more than who is the best in the ring or the best in IPW, it’s about what direction is best for Iconic Pro Wrestling. The future looks dark if the Gate Keeper is removed from his post. The cries of IPW have fallen upon deaf ears and it looks as though Brooklyn Holloway will achieve her goals of stopping all positive streams of income to Iconic Pro Wrestling.”
“As the one true Icon I have made it my duty to stop that from happening. The Iconic Arena has a rain cloud over it’s head right now and it is I… the face of IPW that will stand and fight. I’ve got the blood of a Spartan soldier pumping through my veins and my inherited place on the throne will be defended.”
“Even with Brooklyn Holloway’s greatest army storming my kingdom, in one night I will do what no one has been able to do, and that’s bring IPW together. The New Regime is free to run wild because no one has stood their ground against them and as the one true leader and the one true icon, I will inspire the revolt.”
“How could I do anything other than be an Icon? Management is trying to play it like I’m tarnishing the division when in actuality they are single handedly killing the division and the reputation of IPW by placing Mike Mason at the helm of the companies successes. "

Rex Cassidy and Brady Vega stumble slowly down the hallway. Brady falls to the floor in font of the door just as Rex turns the knob and opens the door. A lengthy stairwell leads downward to a dark basement. A cool temperature light flickers blue-ish white down below and the sounds of fingertips tapping against computer keys are head.
Rex lifts Brady over his shoulder and carries him down the stairs and disappears within the darkness. A switch is flipped and Brady is plopped onto a couch. CopperMuff, also known as Breanna Vega, Brady’s sister turns her attention from the computer monitors to Rex and her brother.
BREANNA VEGA: “Oh my god! What happened?!”
REX CASSIDY: “McCallister banned him then beat him.”
BREANNA VEGA: “What should we do?”
REX CASSIDY: “Just find a new promotion. He is done with training, Dr. Death won’t let him return.”
BREANNA VEGA: “So what does that mean? Why would they do this?”
Rex glances at Brady who is motionless on the couch and obviously in pain.
REX CASSIDY: “He was beaten by security for breaking into McCallister’s office. He wasn’t happy about that at all.”
BREANNA VEGA: “Well, what should I do?”
REX CASSIDY: “Nothing at all. We will find a new promotion for him to conquer. It’s time to begin the real quest. Let him rest.”
“Ugghh..” Brady groans. Rex and Breanna turn their attention to Brady who is moving very slowly as he tries to sit up. “Ouch.” Brady rubs the back of his neck before speaking. “What the fuck?!” Brady shouts before lying back down.

Two paramedics sprint down a long hallway with a gurney. IPW Heavyweight Champion, Brady Vega rests on his back, apparently out cold with the EMT’s trying to revive him.
MEDIC #1: “I’m still not getting a pulse!”
They pick up speed as they reach the elevator at the end of the hallway.
MEDIC #2: “What did they radio it in as?”
MEDIC #1: “Just a man passed out in his hotel room. Unresponsive. They believe he fainted after hearing some bad news?”
MEDIC #2: “Let’s get him out of here.”
The elevator doors open and they rush inside. The elevator doors shut.

MEDIC #1: “Please lay down and rest sir.”
Brady Vega continues to squirm and resist. “Nah, this is bullshit! Let me go! I’m fine!” Brady shouts before being jabbed in the shoulder with a needle. The Medic pumps his veins with a serum of sorts and it puts Brady back down on the gurney. He falls fast asleep.

“So these are the final days?”
….
“The Marvelous One believes he will really walk out of Helloween as the Iconic Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion? The odds are against me. Nothing is in my favor and the fact that management wants to stop all forward progression makes his dreams seem a bit more real. You know what else holds true in this situation?”
“IPW’s management is looking to exterminate the parasite. They want all viewers to witness a champion they molded, not a hard worker. Not someone deserving, but someone they hand picked.”
“Iconic Sports Management was supposed to do what? Manage my affairs dealing with IPW, not anything outside of IPW. Yeah, I am a tweeting machine. I pissed off Morgan Payne but it doesn’t take much to piss off someone as sensitive as her. Mason is literally, exactly the same but with a little something extra to counteract the estrogen.”
“These very well may be my last days at the top in IPW and if that is the case, so be it. I’m going down swinging. I’m not battling Mike Mason, I’m battling Iconic Pro Wrestling as a whole. The organization wants the Heavyweight belt more than the competitors, and it shows. No one presents themselves as a true threat to me.”
“I’ve got legal troubles that aren’t even legal troubles. I’ve got a challenger that is not even a true challenge. Mike Mason… really? That’s the best IPW has to offer? Funny, we’ve watched IPW management carry Mason to victory on more than one occasion. We’ve watched the New Regime step up and make Mike Mason appear to be marvelous when he couldn’t be any further from the exact definition.”
“Marvelous? Not by a long shot. The IPW Heavyweight Championship was acquired by me a true competitor. I did it on my way with no help from anybody. Mike Mason wins in a three against one situation and Management gives him a pat on the back for cheating to victory? It says a lot about IPW Management.”
“I’m the One True Icon for a reason. I represent everything Mike Mason wishes he could be. I represent everything about an IPW competitor that Brooklyn Holloway doesn’t want. I win shit, and I do it with skill, not by beating around the bush and kissing ass.”
“If Mason ends my reign he ends IPW. I put the Icon in Iconic Pro Wrestling. Without me, it’s just Pro Wrestling and nothing about it appears to be professional. I make IPW better. I make the IPW Heavyweight Championship great and without the one true icon, there is no reason to attend an IPW event. The games and antics are finished.”
“I’m in a No Lives Matter match when it should be called an IPW Doesn’t Matter match because the way things have gone the fans are being lead to believe IPW doesn’t matter. They are being led to believe the IPW Heavyweight Championship doesn’t matter. The only reason IPW matters is because of this championship and the fact that I am holding it.”
“From first blood, to a submission match, to a Hell in a Cell, the balls in MY court. I’ll have no issue making you bleed, I’ll definitely have no issue making you quit, and I’ll have no problem putting you through hell, but I will have an issue with is the interference that is expected from the New Regime and IPW’s Management.”
“The Greatest of them all is being held down for being bette than the rest. They want to dumb me down when I’ve got the wrestling IQ at Albert Einstein genius levels. The One True Icon leaves Helloween as a Champion or as a martyr… either way, Brady Vega leaves the best thing to hit the Iconic Arena…. EVER.”
END.
