5:00am and we join Lucas 'The Icon' Thames hunched over the side of his bed deep in thought. A young blonde, slender woman is laid next to him still sound asleep. He stands up carefully trying as hard as he can not to wake her but she wakes up anyway.
Lucas: Go back to sleep, Josie.
Josie: *snorts* Where are you off to?
Lucas: Just taking a walk.
Josie looks over at the clock on the bed stand on her side.
Josie: At 5am?!
Lucas: I can't sleep.
Lucas leans over the bed, kissing Josie on the forehead before putting on a TAPOUT hoodie and jeans and leaving the apartment. The early morning air is brisk and it's still dark outside. Lucas locks the front door to his apartment and places his hood up so that his hood covers his face. He puts his hands in his pockets and makes his way to the 24/7 gym nearby to start some training. Once at the gym, he changes into his workout gear when Nigel, the gym's owner and Josie's father comes over to him.
Nigel: You're here early, Lucas.
Lucas smiles warmly at him.
Lucas: I could say the same about you.
Lucas and Nigel smile at each other when Nigel nods at Lucas in order to get him to follow him. On the way to Nigel's office, Nigel throws a bottle of water Lucas's way from a nearby fridge and Lucas chugs it down.
Nigel: So... I'm hearing good news from Jos.
Lucas: Oh?
Nigel: She says that you've been accepted into the GCWA.
Lucas: News travels fast... Yeah... Nige... can we start a training regimen? I wanna make sure I'm at my best. You know I've been out of the game for some time...
Nigel: For my future son in law? Anything. Now... I know you've been gone a while - last week when we weighed you, you went up to 245lbs! From 220lbs!
Lucas: You know I joined MMA's heavyweight division...
Nigel smiles, crossing his arms.
Nigel: Right. So if you've joined MMA... why are you also going back to pro-wrestling?
Lucas: To bring legitimacy to pro-wrestling. I love pro-wrestling, always have done - just as I love MMA. Trouble is most MMA fans look down their noses at those in wrestling. If I can prove to everyone that it's indeed possible to be successful in both, that's what I will do. I don't know when my debut match is yet, but whoever it is... better have a damn good chiropractor.
