*The camera opens up on a shot of what once was surely an incredible office. The furniture, although covered in dust, appears to be have been top-of-the-line when it was purchased. Books line the shelves, although most haven't been moved in years. There appear to be stacks of paperwork with no rhyme or reason to their ordering. As the camera pans across the room, we see a man standing near the back, using a pin-up board to stick documents to the wall. While not as quick as he used to be, The Accelerator does appear to be motivated as he continues to sort through the various items in front of him on the desk. The door nearby opens, and Jonathan "Pryde" Barrows, The Accelerator's son, walks into the office.*
The Accelerator: Good morning, my sleepy son. About time you woke up. We've got five days left before the return of the GCWA, there's plenty of work to do!
*Jonathan rubs the back of his head, confused, as he steps into the controlled chaos of the office.*
Jonathan Barrows: How long have you been up, Dad? All night?
The Accelerator: No, I slept a few times. Accidentally. But I've still got the energy of a five-time World Heavyweight Champion! Oh, by the way, your brother's going to be flying back into town tomorrow. Please make sure someone's there to pick him up, alright?
Jonathan Barrows: Wonderful. About time he made the trip.
The Accelerator: Yep, it appears I raised TWO slackers. Time to get to work! We've still got plenty of people we need to contact!
*Jonathan walks forward and starts to contemplate the documents that his father has lined up, realizing that they're unsigned contracts. The names on some of these contracts will be familiar to any wrestling fan... from 10-20 years ago.*
The Accelerator: Oh, I can't wait until Friday! Once we get all the regular guys back here, this company is going to be booming once again! And you know these guys won't be able to resist returning! It's an addiction that you just can't break away from!
Jonathan Barrows: Look, Dad, I admire your enthusiasm. But seriously, we need to be thinking more to the future, instead of the past. There are a bunch of extremely relevant wrestlers on the independent scene that we should be working to sign, not relics from previous runs.
The Accelerator: Relics? Have some respect for history, son! I thought I taught you better than that!
*Jonathan shakes his head as he starts pulling contracts off the wall.*
Jonathan Barrows: It's not about respect, Dad, it's about practicality. For instance, Titan 3? Nobody's heard from him for years. I think I remember something about him reenlisting?
The Accelerator: You never know, he might reappear for something like this!
Jonathan Barrows: The Punisher? Handy Man? DEAN? These guys are all long retired at this point.
The Accelerator: The fans love nostalgia.
Jonathan Barrows: "Twiztid" Arryk Rage? ...
The Accelerator: What about Arryk? He's a huge GCWA fan!
Jonathan Barrows: He died, Dad.
*Ace looks up, shocked. He looks from Jonathan to the wall, and back again.*
The Accelerator: What? When?
Jonathan Barrows: I don't remember exactly. I heard it was a heart attack. He always did push the limits.
*Jonathan reaches up and gently takes the contract off, and then takes a few more down, as well.*
Jonathan Barrows: Several of these guys aren't with us anymore. The wrestling business is tough, Dad, as you well know.
*All the wind has been taken out of The Accelerator's sails. He slowly sits back at the desk, lowering his head. Jonathan sighs, placing the contracts down.*
Jonathan Barrows: I know it's not easy to move forward, Dad. But if you want the GCWA to truly thrive, give me the ability to sign more new wrestlers. We've got some from OCW who are interested, I just need the go-ahead.
*The Accelerator slowly nods.*
The Accelerator: Fine. You talk to them, son. You're a co-owner of this company anyway, you don't need my permission.
Jonathan Barrows: Thanks, Dad. I'll make some calls.
*Jonathan heads out of the office, as The Accelerator looks around at the paperwork he's piled up. He picks up the Arryk Rage contract.*
The Accelerator: We'll need to have a memorial on Friday...
*The Accelerator makes a note to find out all the names he can, to give the proper tribute. He stands to leave the room, but looks back at the doorway. A look of determination crosses his face.*
The Accelerator: They're not all gone. Bifford, Lurrr, & TLS are still here. Xtreme was in a mental ward. There must be others. And I'll find them. Wherever they are. The GCWA will live again!
*The Accelerator puts on a grin, getting his confidence back. He departs to make a few phone calls of his own. We fade out.*
