Dylan Thomas has always been the standout athlete, but he hasn't always had the girl that he went on to marry at his side. For fun, I thought it might be cool to explore how Romeo met Juliet - without the double suicide. Shall we?

It's the year 1999, almost approaching the millennium and Dylan Thomas is a 12 year old kid playing soccer and even at that age, was quite a player with the females sometimes. Practice has just finished and he's waiting in the school carpark in Greenwich Connecticut for his mother to come and get him.
Dylan: For God's sake! It's 5pm. Where is she?
Out of boredom, Dylan begins to kick around a stone when he sees his friend Joey coming out of the main school building. The two greet each other when Dylan looks at Joey with a quizzical face.
Dylan: Hey.
Joey: Sup?
Dylan: What are you still doing here?
Joey: Detention. What else?
Dylan smirks at this and just as he goes to say something, an old banger of a car pulls up in front of Dylan and Dylan climbs in. Joey smiles.
Joey: Hey Mrs T!
Dylan's mother, Heather waves at Joey and offers him a ride since she is taking her son out for milkshakes. Dylan however interjects. He likes Joey as a friend but also finds him annoying.
Dylan: Sorry Mom, Joey was just leaving weren't you Joey?
Joey tries to protest but Dylan shoots him a 'not now' look. Taking the hint, Joey shrugs and Heather Thomas drives away. On the way to the milkshake place, Heather Thomas looks down at Dylan who is merely staring out of the window.
Heather: What's wrong kiddo?
Dylan: Nothing.
Heather: Girl trouble?
Dylan: I said, it's nothing. And you need to buy a new car. This one sucks...
Heather: I know. But we can't afford it.
Dylan sighs, shaking his head.
Dylan: I tell you what, Mom... when I become a famous soccer player, I'll buy you a new car.
Heather smiles.
Heather: You're on. OK... we're here. Oh, you know that girl you like called again. Annie is it?
Dylan: Aimee. And you need to stop answering the phone to her, she's getting weird.
Dylan and his mother walk through the door of the milkshake shop and a man walks over to them from behind the counter. Dylan spots a girl with black hair about his age sat on a stool behind the counter. She smiles at him and he nervously smiles back.
Man: What'll it be?
Heather: Vanilla please. Dylan?
Dylan still has yet to take his eyes off of the black haired girl. Both the man behind the counter and Dylan's mom notice this and both smile.
Heather: Dylan?
Man: Young man?
Dylan: I....I...I'm sorry. I'll er… have mint chocolate. Thankyou.
The man nods his head and proceeds to make the milkshakes. After they're made, Dylan and his mother walk over to a booth and sit down. Dylan has yet to take his eyes away from the girl. Heather smiles.
Heather: Keep staring and your eyes will fall out...
Dylan looks down at the floor causing his mother to chuckle. The black haired girl grows rosy cheeked and helps the man behind the counter.
